Abstract
This article aims to identify whether the agricultural calendar has a negative effect on school dropout. The idea is that a very seasonal agricultural calendar will generate a big job demand during certain months of the year, making children and teenagers engage in farming, thus increasing the likelihood of dropping out. We use logit models, differentiating enrolled students, non-enrolled students and those enrolled but not attending school. The results weakly support the hypothesis as the agricultural calendar has a negative non-significant effect on the probability of being enrolled but and attending school; and a negative significant effect on the probability of enrollment.
